The Paradiddle Publishing Experiment Begins

After eleven years of fighting to publish Seen the Lights Go out on Broadway, something unexpected happened. The creative gates burst wide open. That struggle gave way to a flood of paradoxes, demanding attention, refusing to wait. But instead of locking them away in books that take years to complete, what if we tested them now, refined them in real-time, let them breathe before they settle? This is the Paradiddle Publishing experiment. Want to be part of the paradox?

A Thought Experiment...

A Series of Books Based on Blogadiddle Posts

For 11 years, I fought for my first ever publication 'Seen the Lights go out on Broadway' (STLGOOB).

If you're a new visitor and you're interested in the detail of the saga, there's enough to absorb in previous blogs. I don't want to back over this too much, but bound by legal constraints, dragged through battles that tested every ounce of my patience, I carried it forward, not just as a book, but as a burden.

But because I couldn't publish, despite the blood sweat and tears (yes, real tears), there was only one way I was going to get closure and that was to hold a copy of it in my hands. So, I continued on, knowing I was throwing good money after bad. But I had to have that closure to move on with the next phase of my life.

And then, finally, I held it in my hands. A tangible copy. The weight of 11 years, printed and real.

That should have been the closure I needed and in some ways it was, but in others, it was the ignition. It was simply the closing of the previous chapter. And like a great book that you can't put down, the next chapter burst open uninvited.

The floodgates opened, and out of ashes, the concept for The Pearls Amidst the Paradoxes (PATP) rose like a phoenix. An idea that wouldn’t wait, it didn't ask permission, and it threatened to be anything less than everything.

Calm Amidst the Chaos: A Journey Toward Mindfulness & Meditation for the Agitated Soul arrived first, rushing to the page like a toddler running toward the ice-cream van on a sunny summer afternoon.

Then, before I could finish the sentence 'where did that come from?' Focus Amidst the Frenzy: The Journey Toward Unleashing Your Inner Productivity Ninja was born. Egged on by my beloved soulmate, who reminded me that fifteen years of training others on strategic productivity meant I had enough material to fuel a book.

In record time, both took form, demanding that the next 11 years belong to them.

This begs the question: do we shape ideas, or do they shape us?

Prescriptive Self-Reflection on Time

I’ve been thinking about time a lot lately. Not in the poetic, wistful way, more in the where-the-hell-does-it-go kind of way. You know how it is, the days slip past, the to-do list stretches into the horizon, and suddenly, years have expired, leaving behind half-finished ideas and fleeting sparks of brilliance (literally the story of my life).

That what the eleven years of carrying STLGOOB on my back, fighting legal battles, pushing it forward, wondering if I’d ever see it in print meant to me.

Having the floodgates of creativity burst open however, has been the silver lining on those foreboding storm clouds in my rear view mirror. And while ruminating on that specific instance of change, it hit me! If the ideas are flowing faster than I can bind them into books, then why wait? Instead of locking them away until they’re “ready,” why not put them into the world now and test them, refine them, let them breathe before they settle into book form?

Which brings me to this:

The Paradiddle Publishing Experiment Begins

Old publishing wisdom says:

📖 Write the book.
📖 Edit the book.
📖 Release the book.

But that feels...slow, restrictive by today's standards. As if ideas should sit quietly until someone decides they’re polished enough to be heard. Not me. Not here. Time waits for no one and the sands of time are slipping away at an alarming pace.

So now, I'm flipping the system. Paradiddle Publishing isn’t waiting for books to be completed. Instead, I'm going to launch blog posts as the first iteration of possible new titles, testing concepts, refining arguments, and seeing which ones demand full exploration. I already have more than a dozen titles for the The Pearl's Amidst the Paradoxes (PATP) series that I am dying to get into, and the list is growing fast, so I had to find a way to satisfy the creative itch without losing momentum on future titles in the series, and this is it.

Movement isn’t progress and productivity isn’t wisdom. The world tells us to rush, squeeze, optimize, yet somehow, the more we push, the less we feel in control. Years of coaching others on strategic productivity, taught me this one truth and it's become painfully clear: We don’t need more movement! We need better motion.

So here's how the better motion looks to me:

Instead of amassing a collection of titles worth writing about in the future, I'm going to write a blog post that lays out the new paradox, with just enough in it to ignite discussion. Then I can measure if there is engagement , challenges, and see if the conversation expands, and if it does, it becomes a book. Each interaction shapes the final form, turning ideas into something tangible.

And then? We roll forward. The Rhythm of Life is alive and kicking.

Which brings me to Focus Amidst the Frenzy: A Journey Toward Unleashing Your Inner Productivity Ninja, the first experiment and a paradox worth testing. Prior to the release of the book (slated for July 12 '25 - please hold your hate mail if I'm late - I'm just a one man show), I'm going to take a retrospective look at this paradox and produce a blog post about it, send it out into the big wide social world and see what sticks.

Then, I'll do the same with The Calm Amidst the Chaos: A Journey Toward Mindfulness & Meditation for the Agitated Soul (slated for release on August 27, '25 - see the previous point about hate mail).

Who knows, maybe together we'll usher in a new way of thinking when it comes to literary content creation. This isn’t just a publishing experiment, it’s a call to rethink how ideas take shape. After all, a paradox is only a contradiction until you realise it’s the foundation of every future belief.

So tell me, what’s Your Paradox? What is pulling at you?
