A Rhythm Years in the Making

Paradiddle Publishing wasn’t some overnight epiphany or impulsive creative gamble—it was always there, waiting. Patient. Persistent. Paradoxical.

It began back in 2013 when Seen the Lights Go Out on Broadway stormed into my life, demanding rewrites (seven, for those keeping score) and holding my creative energy hostage. For over a decade, STLGOOB dragged me around like a rag doll, forcing me through cycles of obsession, doubt, and sheer willpower. And yet, through every rewrite, every frustrating pause, every debilitating setback, Paradiddle Publishing was already there.

Early on, I registered the domain name and the business title, securing them before I even fully understood why. At first, Paradiddle Publishing existed for one singular purpose—to serve as the launchpad for STLGOOB, to take it from manuscript to stage, from print to the Broadway boards.

Then, reality struck.

Legal technicalities (best left in the murky depths of "things best not discussed without a lawyer") meant STLGOOB couldn’t be published, leaving Paradiddle Publishing with no product to peddle. But as STLGOOB finally became a tangible entity, now sitting proudly on my bookshelf, something remarkable happened:

The shackles shattered, and my creativity burst out like an exorcised poltergeist.

For years, STLGOOB ruled my world like an unruly conductor, pulling the strings, forcing rewrites, resisting completion. And yet, paradoxically, if it hadn't, Paradiddle Publishing may never have been born. It was only when I put STLGOOB to bed that the vision for Pearls Amidst the Paradoxes emerged—and in that moment, I finally understood what Paradiddle Publishing was meant to be.

What Paradiddle Publishing Stands For

Paradiddle Publishing isn’t just a place to print books—it’s a philosophy, a paradox in motion, a publishing house built for those who refuse to fit neatly into any singular mould.

At first, it was simply a vehicle for my own stories. But now, I see its potential for something far greater. I want Paradiddle Publishing to become a platform for others—future authors who have wrestled with their own demons, their own self-reflection, and who believe their insights might serve as a beacon for someone else.

The dream is to open doors, to create a space where emerging writers can step into the world of publishing without fear, without gatekeepers, without the overwhelming uncertainty of, “Where do I even start?”

Paradiddle Publishing is for the storytellers, the thinkers, the restless minds who see the world in contradictions. It’s for those who find meaning in rhythm, who understand that true creativity thrives in the tension between opposites.

It’s a sanctuary—a home for confused and agitated souls like me, who are prepared to embrace their fears and put out a message of hope through their own self-reflective journey.

And in the midst of it all, Paradiddle Publishing isn’t aiming to produce conventional self-help books. No, this is something entirely different—an entirely new genre: prescriptive self-reflection books.

At its core, Paradiddle Publishing pulses with paradox. Much like the drumming rudiment from which it takes its name, where the single stroke balances the double stroke—structure meets spontaneity, self-reflection meets vulnerability, order meets chaos.

What Comes First for Paradiddle Publishing?

Before Paradiddle Publishing can become everything it ought to be, I first must blaze the trail with my own work. The first books to emerge from Paradiddle Publishing will be the Pearls Amidst the Paradoxes series—an exploration of life’s contradictions. Calm Amidst the Chaos: A Journey Toward Mindfulness and Meditation for the Agitated Soul and Focus Amidst the Frenzy: A Journey Toward Unleashing Your Inner Productivity Ninja, will lead the charge, embodying the very essence of Paradiddle Publishing’s mission:

To navigate the tension between structure and surrender. Between fear and certainty. Between discipline and creativity.

This isn’t about crafting polished, perfect stories—it’s about giving voice to the messiness, the beauty, the contradictions that make us who we are. It’s about publishing books that challenge perspectives, ignite reflection, and resonate on a deeper level.

Paradiddle Publishing exists because stories—especially the ones that wrestle with paradox—deserve a stage.

Why Now?

For 12 years, STLGOOB dictated my pace. It refused to let go, forcing me to question my sanity at every turn. And when the single unpublished copy arrived on my doorstep on January 8, 2025, something remarkable happened, Paradiddle Publishing stepped forward, not as a new idea, but as the natural next beat in the rhythm of my creative journey.

That’s the paradox, isn’t it? The things we think we’re creating often end up shaping us instead.

Now, the wheels are turning, the caffeine is flowing, and Paradiddle Publishing is finally stepping into the light. There are no guarantees, no safety nets—just gut instinct, passion, and the stubborn belief that this can be something real.
